Why not invite your clients into your offices?

Email has its limits. At the risk of sounding like a grumpy old man, most professionals lean so heavily on email that they rarely meet their clients in person and it can suck some of the joy from work.

You can use this to your advantage. Break the habit and see how much people appreciate a proper real-life conversation.

Why not invite one of your clients to your offices for the morning? You could offer a couple of hours to talk business, introduce colleagues who might be useful to them and finish off with a decent lunch. If this is not going to work for you, at least swap email for phone next time you need to contact them - and make time to ask how business is - and how they are.

Yes, this is obvious stuff – but how many times have you done it this year?
